This room (S-406) houses the original air conditioning equipment for the
vault. This will all be removed. The unit at the back of the room serving
the UPS batteries and telephone exchange will stay, but in the new
technical room. The duct from this unit will be raised to provide more
clearance. |

This air-conditioning unit, and associated ducting, was added when the IBM
robots were first installed in the vault. It will be removed and stored
for use elsewhere at CERN. |

These rooms (S-432 and others) housed the air conditioning system for the
MG room (S-030). The ceiling is lower than the vault (as can be seen in
the two pictures on the right) and is made from concrete poured on top of
corrugated steel. This is the "dalle holorib" to be demolished. |

4th December
The PDP storage areas have been dismantled, as has the partitioning hiding
the gap above the dalle holorib. Dismantling of the false floor has
started. |

10th December
The false floor is down and the Saleve side door has been removed.
Unwanted cables in the MG room are being removed. |

Most of the old electrical cabling has been removed |

9th February
The cables from the UPS to the power distribution units in the machine
room run through a wall that is to be demolished. These have to be
rerouted for safety reasons and so the computer centre shuts down! |
