B513 Planning Meeting, 14th January
2005
Present:
Tony Cass, Serge Deleval, Anne
Funken, Jose Miranda-Vizuete, Tim Whibley
1.
Previous Minutes
- Approved with minor corrections.
2.
Substation Status
- ABB will be at CERN on January 18th/19th
to review the neutral distribution in the switchboards. If this is
possible there is likely to be a delay of about two months in the
commissioning. This is probably acceptable as there is only an impact on IT
services, not on wotk at the 18kV level nor on
hvac equipment.
- The “critical” UPS is scheduled for
delivery on March 18th.
- The transformers will be powered and
tested at the end of January but the final configuration (and noise…) will
not be before end-February.
- The steam evacuation pipe will be removed
from the substation to provide an additional route out of the substation
for cables. A temporary solution will be required for steam evacuation
during the UPS tests in April (the last tine the steam generators are
required as a temporary load). Jose will ask for a devis to cover the “chimney”.
It was noted that this work needs to be scheduled carefully to avoid
interfering with cabling work.
- Serge & Jose will review the cablofil
installed outside the bunker by the hvac company to be sure that the waterproofing
has not been affected.
- Installation of smoke detection is planned
with the work scheduled after the major cabling installation. Serge will
discuss the resons for grouping the desenfumage (one signal covering all 3
rooms rather than 3 separate signals) with Denis Raffourt.
- The electrical equipment for the air
conditioning arrives January 17th—all expected to be in a working
state by the end of January.
- Given the underfloor layout of the safe
room, the installation of rigid ducts for the air conditioning would be
extremely complex; Serge therefore proposes to use flexible ducting. Anne
was somewhat concerned that these could be too easily damaged during
installation and maintenance work on the electrical equipment. Serge
commented that the ducts would be installed as late as possible but it was
agreed to consider the placement carefully to minimise the risk of damage.
3.
Machine Room Status
- Anne is looking at the routing for the
PDU cables. These must avoid the hvac ducts and must also be appropriately
positioned to allow easy access to the normabarres given the planned rack
layout.
- It was agreed to place the “cleaners”
sockets by the doors to the operators corridor and to the barn.
- Most of the holes in the floor have now
been blocked—and the exceptions are mostly left at Marcel’s request.
- The normabarre installation work is
almostcomplete with only a little work still required in the critical
equipment area.
4.
HVAC Status
- The duct installation along the operarors
corridor and archive store will be
complete by January 20th. Installation of the ducts against the
Salève side wall is starting. The contractors are aware of the need to
protect the network equipment in this area.
- Serge commented that the planned location of some of the Salève side ducts are blocked
by cables. He will contact Marcel Lasne to see if the cables can be moved.
- Ducts with a total cross section of 2m2
are needed to connect the ducts under the barn wall to the cold air
plenum. As it is not evident how to to route the connecting ducts in a way
that is compatible with the proposed renovation, installation work will be
postponed until September.
- Apparently the temperature sensors in the
vault are connected to a PLC. Serge will let Tony have the plc name and
the register layout information so that he can extract the temperature
information.
- For the ground floor machine room, sensor
installation, configuration and plc connection details are all part of the
proposed future development. In the meanwhile Serge believed that it would
be possible to supply portable sensors to monitor air temperature at
strategic points.
5.
AOB
- As M. Treleani left Tremblet at end of
2004 Jose is discussing ways to maintain his involvement with the barn
upgrade project and, in particular, for the planing of foundation
reinforcements.
- Tony commented that the metal arc planned
to protect the exposed corner of the bunker has never bee installed. It
was agreed that this does not seem necessary now.
- Next meeting: 2pm, Friday Febrary 4th.
